Solo Music

During the funeral the following song was sung by Skagen local, Jens-Christan Wandt.

The song was writen by Carl Michael Bellman (1740 - 1795) and is called "The Winged Butterfly is seen at Haga" Or in Danish "Fjäriln vingad syns på haga".

This is a gentle, pastoral song, it celebrates Bellman's king and patron, Gustav III and the beauty of the royal residence at Haga Park, outside Stockholm.

Carl Michael Bellman was a highly successful composer of drinking songs and generally considered one of the finest Swedish poets from any period.

Words - The Winged Butterfly is seen at Haga

O'er the misty park of Haga

In the frosty morning air

To her green and fragile dwelling

See the butterfly repair

E'en the least of tiny creatures

By the sun and zephys warm'd

Wakes to new and solemn ratures

In a bed of flowers form'd
